Homeless to increase in bush: MP

A Nationals MP warns homelessness could increase in regional Australia if Labor pushes ahead with a curb on tax breaks for property investors.

More people will be at risk of becoming homeless in regional towns if Labor implements its curb on tax breaks for property investors, a federal Nationals MP believes.

Andrew Broad argues property and rental markets in country towns will be hit hard if Labor wins government and negative gearing is restricted to only newly-constructed houses.

It was already difficult to get people to invest in rural properties, he told reporters in Canberra on Monday.
