Lives and homes are in danger from a bushfire in Perth's southern suburbs, with a watch and act alert issued.

Lives and homes are under threat from a bushfire burning in Perth's south.

A watch and act alert has been issued for people on the eastern side of the Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis, in the City of Rockingham.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services says the bushfire is under control but not contained.

The flames are moving in a north-westerly direction, and burning embers are likely to be blown around homes.
