Perth Scorchers spinner Emma King admits her hot form has even surprised herself during the current WBBL campaign, and it's all thanks to doing a bit of extra homework.
King struggled to crack into the Scorchers' squad last summer, but she's the team's leading wicket taker this season after snaring 17 scalps at an average of 18.
Her economy rate of 5.77 has also been crucial at tying rival teams down.
King's prowess was evident in Tuesday's semi-final victory over the Brisbane Heat, when she snared 2-17 from four overs.
The Heat never recovered from King's tight spell, with Brisbane meandering to 5-124 in a total easily chased down by Perth.

"I've put a bit more research into what I'm doing, and making sure I've got the right plans for each batter," King said.
"It's been quite exciting and a little bit different.
"It is a little bit surprising I'm the leading wicket taker, but I'll take it.
"I hardly played last year, so every time I step out I've been really thankful I've been there in the first place.
"If I can get a wicket, it's a bonus. I'm just happy to be playing."
The Scorchers will be aiming to snare their maiden WBBL crown when they host the Sydney Sixers in Saturday's final.
The Sixers progressed to the decider with a thumping 103-run win over the Hobart Hurricanes.
Sydney made 6-169, before bowling out the Hurricanes for 66.
