Homicide squad joins search for Chinese woman missing in Sydney

Homicide detectives have joined the investigation into the disappearance of a 28-year-old Chinese woman after her car was found dumped a short drive from her Sydney home.

Qi Yu was last seen by friends at her share house on Loch Street in Campsie on Friday evening, NSW Police said on Monday.

Ms Yu had just spoken with her family in China. The next morning her friends found her room empty and reported her missing.

Her car, a white Toyota Corolla, was also missing from the home. The car was found about four kilometres away, parked on a Burwood street, at 8.30 that evening.

There's been no sign of Ms Yu and homicide detectives have now been assigned to the case.

Her friends and family say her disappearance is out of character and they hold grave concerns for her welfare.

Investigators are asking anyone who saw Ms Yu or her car over the weekend to contact them.
