Cathay Pacific will cancel flights in and out of Hong Kong from this evening ahead of the anticipated arrival of Super Typhoon Usagi.
Forecasters say the most powerful storm could pose a severe threat to the city.
The airline says flights will be cancelled from 8pm AEST and will gradually resume tomorrow if weather conditions permit.
Packing sustained winds of 240 kilometres an hour, Usagi has already lashed the Philippines and Taiwan.
