'Hop on, hop off': Quick fox jumps on Melbourne tram

A fox has jumped aboard a tram in Melbourne's west.

Another day, another story about a cunning creature aboard a Melbourne tram failing to swipe their myki, but this one has a bushy tail.

A fox hopped on the route 57 West Maribyrnong tram on Friday, after it finished service at the end of the line, but the driver "wasn't particularly alarmed", a Yarra Trams spokesman told AAP.

"It was a hop on, hop off. It was a brief interaction," the spokesman said.

"It's certainly not a common occurrence."
