The Manly Sea Eagles have been rocked by news that young gun William Hopoate has decided to quit the club at the end of the season for religious reasons.

Hopoate is one of the hottest properties on the market, with a host of clubs reportedly chasing his signature.

But the 19-year old has decided to knock back offers worth up to 1-point five million dollars to embark on a two year Mormon mission from 2012.

"The news is a big setback for the Sea Eagles, who clash with the Gold Coast in round 10 on Monday night," William Hopoate said.
