Horn could brush ESPYS for State of Origin

Jeff Horn says he could turn down his invitation to ESPN's annual awards show so he can watch next week's State of Origin decider.

Steph Curry or Cameron Smith?

Jeff Horn can't quite make up his mind.

Australia's newest sporting hero is considering brushing his invite to the ESPYS so he can watch next week's State of Origin decider in Brisbane.

Horn has been extended an invitation to attend the glitzy annual awards show in Los Angeles on next Wednesday.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum came up with the idea of taking the suddenly in-demand 29-year-old along to introduce him to US audiences in person.

The only problem is the ESPYS clash with the third match of the series between Queensland and NSW at Suncorp Stadium, the scene of his historic WBO welterweight championship victory over Manny Pacquiao.

"I really want to be watching Queensland winning Origin," said Horn, a diehard rugby league fan who has been invited into Maroons camp this week.

Horn, now ranked among the world's top 10 pound-for-pound fighters by respecting boxing website BoxRec, was looking a little better on Wednesday morning as he paid a visit to the Queensland Reds at their Ballymore base.

Horn was presented with a specially-designed Indigenous jersey, which the Reds will wear on Friday night against the Brumbies in their final home game of the Super Rugby season.

He was able to see it with both eyes, too, with the swelling in his right eye now having gone away to the extent where he can now actually open it.

That will come in handy on Thursday as Horn tours the streets of Brisbane on a ticker-tape parade to celebrate one of the most remarkable feats from an Australian sportsman.
