Horn faces US media after world title win

Jeff Horn has remained self-assured as ever on encountering the media in the United States, where his welterweight world title fight victory over Manny Pacquiao was heavily questioned.

The Australian was in Los Angeles for the prestigious ESPY sports awards on Wednesday, 10 days after beating Filipino great Pacquiao by unanimous decision, which was confirmed on review.

"I feel like I've defended the title again already, and I've only had it for a week," Horn said after arriving in California from Brisbane.

The WBO ordered the 'Battle of Brisbane' on July 2 to be re-scored after a call by a Filipino government department, following scathing criticism of the judges' decision in the US and Pacquiao's home country.

Five new, anonymous judges reviewed the fight, determining the 29-year-old Horn won seven rounds to five.

"I kind of feel it's been put to bed now that I definitely won the fight, because they re-scored it," Horn said.

"To have them say that everyone else that studied it (and) I had definitely won the fight gives me another sense of relief.

"But people are always going to have their opinions, and you're never going to change some of those.

"I guess the only way to do it is to do it again, to have a rematch, and I think I would do even better the second time."

A reunion with ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas, who told Horn that he disagreed with the decision in a post-fight interview at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium, is a possibility at the awards.

"To hear someone like him say it straight to my face was a little bit heartbreaking," Horn said.

"But I easily just forget. I kind of lost a little bit of respect for Teddy after that."

Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum plans to visit him in the Philippines soon to discuss their next move, with a re-match a chance to again be held in Brisbane.

"Obviously, doing it again in Brisbane is a good place," Horn said.

"I love fighting at home, so having it there again would be the preference to me."
