Hosking scores cycling win in China

Australian Chloe Hosking stayed out of trouble at the end of the last stage to win the Tour of Chongming Island.

Australian cyclist Chloe Hosking has continued her strong form this year, winning the Tour of Chongming Island in China.

Hosking stayed out of trouble at the end of the chaotic third and final stage, finishing 20th.

She picked up vital bonus seconds earlier in the stage at an intermediate sprint to ensure the overall win.

Taiwan's Ting Ying Huang won stage three and finished one second behind Hosking overall at the WorldTour event.

"I'm so proud of our team," the Wiggle-High5 rider said.

"The girls really rose to the occasion today and rode like they were protecting the yellow jersey.

"I kind of felt like the proud mother hen sitting at the back of the peloton and just watching them control everything."

By picking up two seconds in the intermediate sprint, Hosking had an 11-second lead overall.

Only 10 seconds were on offer for winning the stage, meaning the Australian only had to finish to confirm her race title.

"This is obviously a big win for the team and myself personally as it's a WorldTour race," Hosking said.
