How Australians have fared on the opening night of the world swimming championships in Budapest.

AUSTRALIAN SWIMMERS' RESULTS ON THE OPENING NIGHT OF THE WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS:

Men's 400m freestyle final: Silver - Mack Horton (three minutes, 43.85 seconds), Eighth - David McKeon (3:46.27)

Women's 400m freestyle final: Fourth - Ariarne Titmus (4:04.26 equal PB)

Women's 4x100m freestyle relay final: Silver - Shayna Jack, Bronte Campbell, Brittany Elmslie, Emma McKeon (3:32.01)

Men's 4x100m freestyle relay final: Disqualified (false start) - Jack Cartwright, Zac Incerti, Cameron McEvoy, Alex Graham.

Women's 100m butterfly semi-finals: Second fastest qualifier for final - Emma McKeon (56.23 equal Australian record), Equal 12th, missed final - Brianna Throssell (58.21)

Women's 200m individual medley semi-finals: 16th, missed final - Kotuku Ngawati (2:14.07)
