HOW BAIRD ROLLED OVER ON GREYHOUNDS

July 7 - Premier Mike Baird reacts to a damning official report, which included evidence of live baiting and mass culling, by announcing greyhound racing will be banned in NSW from July 2017.

July 13 - Deputy Prime Minister and Federal Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce criticises the ban.

August 24 - The bill to ban greyhound racing passes state parliament's lower house following a late-night debate with three Nationals MPs crossing the floor to oppose the bill.

September 29 - Newspoll results show Mr Baird's approval rating had fallen from 61 per cent last December to 39 per cent.

October 4 - Media reports that Greyhounds Transition Taskforce head John Keniry tried to quit his post two months after he was appointed because he did not support the ban.

October 6 - Speculation Nationals MPs are preparing to contest Troy Grant's leadership reaches fever pitch.
