A Pike River Relief Fund Trust has been established for the families of the 29 men who died in the Pike River coal mine.
Grey District Mayor Tony Kokshoorn announced the fund which will aid the efforts of many of the agencies involved in responding to the crisis. Pike River Coal Limited has made a contribution of $500,000 to establish the fund.

The ANZ bank and The National Bank have set up their own relief funds for the West Coast, with ANZ donating $100,000. Both banks are taking donations at any of their branches.
BNZ has also opened an appeal account for the families and community of the lost miners.

Victim support is bringing in extra staff to relieve those working with the families of the Pike River miners.
It has about a dozen personnel in Greymouth already and new staff will be brought in from around the country.
The Red Cross is also helping miners' relatives in Greymouth.
Givealittle.co.nz has set up a donation appeal for the trust.
Skylight, a not-for-profit trust, has launched an internet page to provide support for people affected by the disaster.
