A four-club AFL trade was finalised late on Monday, when Melbourne and Collingwood both offloaded two players.
Demons Jeremy Howe and Jimmy Toumpas will aim to reignite their careers at Collingwood and Port Adelaide respectively, while Paul Seedsman and Ben Kennedy will depart the Magpies as expected.
"With 100 games under his belt, he will provide experience and support for our core group of players ... while still having a lot of growth in his footy as well," Collingwood list manager Derek Hine said of Howe.
"He is also an extremely durable athlete who has only missed one game since making his debut in 2011, and has finished in the top 10 of Melbourne's best-and-fairest count the last four years."
Kennedy has joined the Demons, having managed 25 games since being drafted with pick No.19 in the 2012 draft.
Seedsman signed with Adelaide, the in-demand rebounding defender having nominated the Crows as his preferred home last week.
"Paul's a good size. He has a penetrating kick and loves to take the game on. He also showed earlier in the year that he can stand up on the big stage," Crows head of football David Noble said.
"Paul wants to get better and we think he can develop into a consistent and damaging player."
A series of draft picks also changed hands.
Port Adelaide grabbed Toumpas and draft pick No.32 in exchange for picks No.29, No.50 and No.68.
Seedsman, who won this year's Anzac medal, came to the Crows at the cost of pick No.32.
Collingwood said farewell to Seedsman and Kennedy, gaining pick No.68 and Howe as compensation.
In addition to Kennedy, Melbourne picked up selections No.29 and No.50 in exchange for Howe and Toumpas.
Meanwhile, ruckman Jonathan Giles has joined his third AFL club after being starved of opportunity at Essendon.
Giles joined the Bombers after the 2014 season, having played 51 games with Greater Western Sydney.
However, he managed only three matches in Essendon's disastrous 2015 campaign.
The Eagles offloaded pick No.57 in exchange for Giles and pick No.62.
