The man Craig Thomson falsely accused of threatening to set him up with "hookers" says he doesn't expect an apology from the former federal MP.
In a 2012 speech to parliament, Thomson denied allegations he had used Health Services Union funds to pay for prostitutes and accused former official Marco Bolano of conspiring against him.
Mr Bolano was sitting just a seat away from Thomson as he faced a plea hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Outside court, Mr Bolano echoed prosecution calls for Thomson to be jailed.
"Given this pantomime, this charade that's gone on for four years and his just cynical lying ... I think he should do time," he told reporters.
Mr Bolano said his family and career had suffered as a result of Thomson's speech.
He said he was grateful for a formal apology from parliament, but said he did not expect anything similar from Thomson.
"I've got no redress because he did it under parliamentary privilege," he said.
Mr Bolano said he was looking forward to giving evidence at an upcoming royal commission into union corruption.
