HSU urges NDIS delay amid workforce fears

The health workers union says the NDIS should be delayed until staffing shortages are addressed by the states in full roll out agreements.

Health workers want the national disability insurance scheme delayed until there are enough staff to support it.

The Health Services Union on Thursday urged the states not to sign onto full rollout agreements until serious workforce issues were addressed, amid concerns about abuse by carers.

"In these circumstances, where there will be a huge influx of untrained workers, it's not hard to see very high and increasing levels of risk," HSU president Lloyd Williams said in a statement.
