Hubble captures supernova

The Hubble space telescope has beamed back stunning images of a supernova which was first seen on earth back in 1987.

SN 1987A, reports the BBC, has been captured for the first time since the telescope's systems were upgraded last year.

The supernova, or exploding star, is 168,000 light years from Earth, and has spewn out large amounts of gas and metals dust.
