Huddersfield ends Hull Super League streak

Inspired by utility back Jake Connor, Huddersfield has beaten a depleted Hull to improve their Super League fortunes.

Huddersfield brought Hull's 10-match winning run to an abrupt end with an impressive 22-12 victory that lifts them to a season-high ninth place in Super League.

England winger Jermaine McGillvary scored two tries in three minutes early in the second half, including the 150th of his career, as the Giants bounced back in style from their Challenge Cup exit.

Second row pair Tom Symonds and Michael Lawrence also scored tries in Huddersfield's second successive league win under acting head coach Andy Kelly that keeps alive their outside top-eight hopes.

Hull, who had the chance to open up a four-point lead at the top, went into the game without four regulars including skipper Gareth Ellis and were a shadow of the team that had won 15 of their previous 16 league and cup matches.

Architect of their defeat was Huddersfield utility back Jake Connor, who will join Hull on a two-year contract at the end of the season.
