Huget set for France after year-long exile

Winger Yoann Huget has been recalled to France's Test rugby side for the first time in a year as coach Jacques Brunel plots Argentina's downfall in Lille.

Toulouse winger Yoann Huget will play his first match with France in a year against Argentina in Lille on Sunday (AEDT).

Huget will start against the Pumas as a replacement for Damian Penaud, who misses the Test because of a right ankle injury he sustained in a 29-26 loss to South Africa last week.

Coach Jacques Brunel has made two changes to his team, giving a starting role to centre Gael Fickou at the expense of Geoffrey Doumayrou.

Fickou has delivered consistent performances with his club this season but had been left out of the team that started against the Springboks as Brunel tried to bolster his defence.

Brunel has opted for a more attacking side to face Argentina so Fickou will start alongside Mathieu Bastareaud in his favoured position.

Huget, 31, will earn his 52nd cap and first since an 18-17 loss to South Africa last November.

France have lost their last five tests and won only two of the previous nine under Brunel - the side have not lost six tests in a row since they went on a 10-game losing streak in 1968-69.

France also slipped to defeat the last time they hosted Argentina, going down 18-13 in Paris in 2014.

France: Maxime Medard, Teddy Thomas, Mathieu Bastareaud, Gael Fickou, Yoann Huget, Camille Lopez, Baptiste Serin, Louis Picamoles, Arthur Iturria, Wenceslas Lauret, Yoann Maestri, Sebastien Vahaamahina, Cedate Gomes Sa, Guilhem Guirado (capt), Jefferson Poirot. Res: Camille Chat, Dany Priso, Rabah Slimani, Paul Gabrillagues, Mathieu Babillot, Antoine Dupont, Anthony Belleau, Benjamin Fall.
