Hugh Jackman goes geocaching

Hugh Jackman has discovered the world of geocaching and has taken to Twitter to post a picture of his first find in the real-world treasure hunt.

Hollywood star Hugh Jackman has become one of Australia's 35,000 geocaching fans.

The Australian actor went geocaching with his son recently and proudly posted a photo of their fist find on twitter.

"This is the wonderful world of GEOCACHing... our first find in the desert. Check it out. It's awesome," Jackman tweeted.

Geocaching is a treasure hunting game using handheld GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.

Anyone can become a geocacher by registering online.

The fun family outdoor activity has grown in popularity since its creation in 2000.

According to geocaching.com there are more than six million geocachers worldwide.

Geocaching Australia, which has more than 35,000 members, provides a guide to finding your first cache. Caches are buried all over Australia.
