Hull FC and Hull KR win in Super League

Hull FC have beaten Wakefield and Hull KR have beaten Castleford in England's Super League rugby league competition.

Albert Kelly inspired Hull KR to only their third Super League win of the season as coach James Webster got the perfect response after his team's shock 36-22 Challenge Cup exit against Oldham.

The mercurial Australian, out of action since the Good Friday derby against Hull FC, outshone England hopeful Luke Gale as the Robins' 58-16 victory over Castleford lifted them above champions Leeds into 10th spot.

Kelly crossed for one of the visitors' 11 tries - which included a hat-trick for centre Thomas Minns - and was directly involved in another five as Webster's squad shrugged off the criticism caused by their home cup knock-out to Championship opposition.

Winger Ken Sio and centre Iain Thornley also grabbed doubles as Hull KR ended a run of six games without victory against Daryl Powell's sloppy home side, who failed to score in the second half.

Meantime, Hull FC coach Lee Radford expressed his relief after watching his Super League side halt the winning run of Wakefield in a 13-try feast at Belle Vue.

Winger Fetuli Talanoa scored four of his side's eight tries as the Black and Whites ended the Wildcats' run of five consecutive league and cup wins under former player Chris Chester with a 46-28 victory to move to within two points of top spot.

Centre Ashley Gibson scored a first-half hat-trick for the home side as they came from 24-6 down to lead 28-24 but Hull just had too much pace and power as they completed the double following their 22-4 win over the Wildcats in Chester's first game in charge.

"I'm relieved and obviously really pleased as well," Radford said. "We've not had very much success here so it's a huge one for us.

"In terms of performance, there were some horrible patches in there. We got out of the blocks quick and the issues we had to fix up in defence in the second half we did."
