Human skeletal remains have been found at what is believed to be an old camp site in a Queensland forest.

A member of the public has discovered human skeletal remains in a Queensland forest.

The remains were found around 3pm on Saturday in what is believed to be an old camp site, police say.

Scientific officers combed the scene on Sunday morning and detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Police are yet to identify who the remains belong to and are treating their death as non-suspicious at this time.
