Human remains have been found near Bendigo during a search for missing Melbourne mother Simone Quinlan.

Ms Quinlan, 33, was last seen driving from a service station about 11pm on August 24.

She has two sons, aged five and 12.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman says a crime scene guard will remain at the scene in Kangaroo Flat overnight and further forensic testing will take place on Thursday.

Police allege Melton men Brendan Neil, Dylan Jez and Wayne Marmo murdered Ms Quinlan at Bacchus Marsh on August 25.

Marmo, 24, appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Tuesday, while Jez, 23, and Neil, 28, both requested not to face the court.

During the brief hearing, Magistrate Jonathan Klestadt ordered all three men undergo DNA testing.

They did not apply for bail and have been remanded in custody until their next court appearance in February.
