Hundreds of homes are without power and many roads remain blocked following severe weather that has affected much of the UK over the weekend.

Residents on the isle of Arran off Scotland's west coast have been without power since Friday morning, when strong winds and heavy snow brought down power lines. Several school groups were also stranded on the island.

Forecasters predict the wild weather is set to continue for the rest of the week.
