Hunt's Green diplomacy costs $7 million

New figures show the federal environment minister and staff spent $7 million travelling the world in 2014/15.

Environment Minister Greg Hunt and department staff clocked up $7 million in travel over the past financial year.

New figures tabled in parliament, in answer to a Labor question on notice, showed Mr Hunt's department spent $4.8 million on domestic travel and $2.2 million on overseas trips.

The minister's trips - most of which related to World Heritage Committee meetings dealing with the Great Barrier Reef - took in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Germany, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Portugal, Finland, Poland, Jamaica, Colombia, Peru, Japan, Korea and India.
