Gold Coast's Konrad Hurrell is readying himself to face off against his former NRL team and the man who replaced him there in the centres, when the Titans tackle the Warriors in round five on Sunday.
Hurrell spent four seasons with the Warriors playing 71 games and scoring 41 tries, despite never nailing down a spot during years marred by controversy.
The Tongan-born centre joined Gold Coast for the 2017 campaign and it hasn't been smooth sailing after he injured his knee in pre-season.
Then during the Titans' round-four loss to North Queensland it looked as if the fitness woes would continue when Hurrell started limping in the match, but he says his ankle is fine.
"I didn't dislocate it or anything - it's just a bit sore," Hurrell said on Friday.
"I should be alright. We've got training today and if I can get through that I should be alright."
Hurrell said he doesn't have fond memories of the most recent time he played his countryman and replacement at the Warriors Solomone Kata, but plans to impose himself in this encounter.
"We made him look good, we weren't up in his face," Hurrell said of Kata.
"He scored two tries in our last game and they won the game.
"He's my man, I'm versing him. He's got the potential to play good, I've just got to be up in his face the whole game."
After receiving a few cheeky messages from his former teammates this week, Hurrell suggested it won't be all fire and brimstone when he takes the field.
"They heard about the ankle issue and someone told Manu (Vatuvei) to tell me to not be scared and just come and play," Hurrell said.
"I'm looking forward to the battle and looking forward to being back in New Zealand."
Gold Coast will have their co-captain Ryan James leading the pack after being cleared by the NRL judiciary, so it's unlikely Chris Grevsmuhl will make his Titans debut on the weekend.
Ahead of a tough fortnight for Gold Coast during which they take on Canberra and Brisbane, they will be desperate to build some momentum with a strong showing against the Warriors.
But given the Warriors have also won just once from their first four games of the season, the clash at Mt Smart Stadium is expected to be a fiery encounter.
