Hobart Hurricanes skipper George Bailey is hoping raw speed can help his side break a three-season Big Bash League finals drought.
Imports Jofra Archer and Tymal Mills have been named in the side's 13-man squad to take on the Melbourne Renegades in their season opener on Thursday night in Hobart.
Bailey expects the explosive quicks to push the 150km/h mark with the ball but has urged them to use their pace wisely.
"Training sucks when they're bowling," he said on Wednesday.
"Along with Aaron Summers as well, there's some good speed.
"Speed can be really important but you've also got to know how to use it."
Archer, 22, is of English and West Indian heritage. He was a late inclusion for the Hurricanes after fellow overseas signing Tim Curran was elevated to England's Ashes squad.
He and Mills are two of six fresh faces in the side's game-one squad along with former Test wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and batsman Alex Doolan, who is taking on his former team.
Doolan will fill a top-order role vacated by Tim Paine, who's expected to miss several BBL games due to Ashes duty.
Another new face is former South African opener Gary Kirsten as coach.
Hobart were BBL runners-up in 2013-14 but haven't qualified for the finals since.
It's something Bailey hopes Kirsten can arrest.
"We probably haven't finished the tournament all that well in previous years. It's more about a consistent approach right throughout," said Bailey, who was Hobart's leading run scorer last season with 240 at a strike rate of 150.
"Gary's experience around international tournaments will really help."
