Western Australia Police ignored a truck driver's excuse for his excessive speeding on his urgency to use a toilet after his children gave him gastro.

The man lost his licence after he was caught speeding at 99km/h in a 60km/h zone on the Great Northern Highway in Pithara, in the state's Wheatbelt region, on the Monday public holiday.

Dalwallinu police tweeted a photo of the fine, with the man's excuse: "I needed to s***, kids have given me gastro."
