Malcolm Turnbull has admitted he took advantage of investment tax breaks, but he's not using negative gearing now.

The prime minister has led the government's campaign against Labor's policy to limit negative gearing to newly-constructed homes from July 2017.

"I have indeed yes, but I don't have anything negatively-geared at the moment," Mr Turnbull said in answer to a question from Neil Mitchell on radio 3AW on Friday.
