Ian Poulter's comeback from injury stuttered as he missed the cut at the US PGA tournament in Mississippi.
The Englishman is playing his second tournament since suffering a foot injury in June but he will not be present over the weekend after finishing on one over after his first two rounds - three shots off the cut line.
After carding a two-under-par 70 on Thursday, Poulter would have been looking up the leaderboard, but after making the turn on level par for his round, things went wrong on the back nine as four bogeys and a birdie left him signing for a 75.
Poulter's compatriot Greg Owen is in contention as he sits two off the lead - held by American Grayson Murray - on 10 under.
The 44-year-old fired six birdies, with just one bogey, in a second successive round of 67 to put himself in the hunt of a first PGA Tour title.
Murray leads the way at the halfway point on 12 under and an impressive round of 65 which consisted of eight birdies.
With the top 50 in the world eligible to compete in the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, world No.74 Chris Kirk is the highest ranked player at The Country Club of Jackson and he is on seven under.
Cameron Smith is the best-placed Australian in a tie for 14th after a round of two under lifted him to seven under for the tournament.
