ICAC findings handed down next week

The Independent Commission Against Corruption will hand down its findings into a range of scandals involving NSW Labor next week.

The NSW corruption watchdog will next week begin handing down its findings into a series of alleged scandals involving members of the NSW Labor party.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) wrapped up six months of sensational hearings in May, in which high-profile Labor figures including disgraced former minister Ian Macdonald were called to give evidence.

ICAC commissioner David Ipp will hand his findings into Operations Jarilo, Indus and Jasper to the NSW parliament on Wednesday.

If the parliamentary speaker, Shelley Hancock, decides to make the reports public they will be posted on the ICAC website, the watchdog says.

Operation Jasper investigated whether Mr Macdonald, while mining minister, rigged a 2008 tender process to grant a coal licence over land owned by the family of ex-Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid.

Jarilo heard allegations ex-boxer Lucky Gattellari and Mr Medich offered Mr Macdonald rewards or inducements - including the services of a prostitute called Tiffanie - to arrange meetings with state energy executives.

Operation Indus investigated allegations that former roads minister Eric Roozendaal received a $10,400 discount on a Honda from Mr Obeid's family in return for favours.

Mr Ipp's findings into a fourth inquiry - Operation Acacia, which probed a coal exploration licence at Doyles Creek granted by Mr Macdonald - are expected in August.

The ICAC cannot lay charges or find individual players committed criminal offences.

Instead, the commissioner has been tasked with deciding whether or not corruption occurred and if individuals should be investigated by the DPP.
