Heavily armed police have arrested an alleged drug dealer as he tried to sell almost $500,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine in a Sydney car park.

The 34-year-old was caught trying to sell two kilograms of the drug, also known as "ice", at a shopping centre car park in Beamish Street, Campsie on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Officers also raided two properties in Belmore and Lakemba and seized a number of items as part of the same investigation.

The man was charged with supplying a large commercial quantity of prohibited drugs.

He was refused bail and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Friday.
