A 21-year-old accused of stabbing his parents was reportedly high on ice during the early morning attack in Sydney's northwest.
Former King's School student David Anderson was arrested at the Oatlands home of his parents after allegedly stabbing his father and wounding his mother about 4am on Friday.
The 55-year-old father suffered serious stab wounds and the 53-year-old mother had facial injuries, police say.
They were taken to Westmead Hospital where they remain in a stable condition.
Neighbours say the 21-year-old's father was covered in blood while he called for help.
"He said `get the effing cops'," Heather Sheehan told Network Ten.
Neighbour Satwant Calais told the network the pair went out to the street in distress: "Her partner was injured and was lying in the gutter."
The 21-year-old spent Friday at Parramatta police station, but had to take a "time out" because he wasn't in a condition to be interviewed, a NSW police spokeswoman said.
He had allegedly taken ice before the attack, according to media reports.
Police expect Anderson will be charged on Friday night.
