Australian Idol winner Kate DeAraugo has declared she is sorry after appearing in a Victorian court for allegedly possessing the drug ice and carrying a knife and tomahawk.
"Of course I am sorry," the 31-year-old told reporters outside the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.
DeAraugo, once a member of pop group the Young Divas, is charged with possessing a drug of dependence, namely ice, and drug driving at Shepparton on June 15.
She is also charged with two counts of possessing a controlled weapon, being a large bladed knife and tomahawk.
Police also allege DeAraugo breached her bail by not obeying an 11pm to 7am curfew, when she was found at a BP store at Kyabram, about 100 kilometres from her Bendigo home.
A further charge of trafficking was withdrawn by prosecutors.
The court was told DeAraugo, who appeared in court dressed smartly in black pants, white shirt and a black jacket, intended to plead guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Patrick Southey extended her bail and adjourned the case until November 15.
It's not DeAraugo's first brush with the law, having faced traffic and drug charges in Sydney in 2015.
She shot to fame after winning TV talent show Australian Idol in 2005, defeating favourite Emily Williams and third-placed "Wasabi" singer Lee Harding.
Aged just 20, she told a packed crowd at the Sydney Opera House and millions on live TV how she never gave up on achieving her dream after being rejected by the Idol judges two years earlier.
DeAraugo then joined girl band Young Divas with Williams, Paulini Curuenavuli, and Ricki-Lee Coulter, releasing two albums and two top-10 singles.
Since then DeAraugo has famously lost half her body weight, tried working as a secretary and wrote a book detailing her fall from grace into drug addiction.
