I'll be back in the NRL: Segeyaro

Ex-Panthers rake James Segeyaro has vowed to return to the NRL after a stint in the Super League.

Super League-bound James Segeyaro has vowed to return to the NRL.

The former Penrith hooker last week transferred to Leeds Rhinos in a swap for England fullback Zak Hardaker.

Segeyaro was out of favour with Panthers coach Anthony Griffin and was dumped to reserve grade last month.

The 25-year-old will join Leeds for the rest of the Super League season and could debut for the club against Widnes on July 3.

Either way Segeyaro said he wants to get back to the NRL.

"I want to get back to that form that I believe I can get back to and hopefully come back to the NRL," Segeyaro told Channel Nine on Monday night.

"I have never been in this situation before, a club never wanting me. I was shocked to be in reserve grade ... they said it was best for me if I leave the club."

"We were trying to find different clubs (in the NRL). But everyone else has three or four hookers."

The former North Queensland rake said he was paying the price for a photo posted on social media of him having dinner with alleged criminals at a Chinese restaurant.

"It was a photo, nothing more, nothing less. I think it was taken out of context," he said.
