Iluka Resources says shipping of heavy mineral concentrate from Port of Thevenard has been suspended following safety concerns over the jetty structure.

Mineral sands miner Iluka Resources says shipping of heavy mineral concentrate from South Australia's Port of Thevenard has been suspended following safety concerns over the jetty structure.

Iluka, which ships concentrate from its Jacinth-Ambrosia mine in SA to mineral separation plants in WA and Victoria, said it is investigating alternative transportation options in the region.

The company said it does not expect any impact on its 2017 production and sales guidance.
