Malcolm Turnbull has been forced to defend his Liberal credentials after a talkback caller queried what he stood for.

Ken, a long-time Liberal voter, told 2GB when he looks at Mr Turnbull he's unsure whether he's a Labor or Liberal prime minister.

"My life and the values of my party are values of economic freedom and enterprise and that is what most Australians see as where their future lies," Mr Turnbull replied.
