Despite one of his closest friends saying Tony Abbott wants a spot in the Turnbull cabinet, the man himself is pretty busy being a backbencher.
The former prime minister said while he wanted to do the best job he could as the Member for Warringah, there were some national and international issues he would speak out on.
"I'm not asking to be promoted," he told ABC radio on Friday.
