I'm ready for Origin says Reynolds

It's a year later than he had hoped but Adam Reynolds says he is ready for State of Origin after being called up for his State of Origin debut.

Adam Reynolds has declared he's ready after finally being chosen as the latest NSW halfback to be tried in State of Origin.

Reynolds, 25, has been linked to an Origin debut for several seasons after playing a key role in South Sydney's NRL resurgence and 2014 premiership win.

On Monday, his childhood dreams finally came true when he was drafted into coach Laurie Daley's side for the 2016 Origin series opener in Sydney on June 1.

"I didn't feel ready until last year, I feel ready now," Reynolds said.

"I have played in a grand final so I am used to the pressure.

"I am looking forward to the week and getting out there."

Reynolds joins James Maloney in the Blues halves as Daley's fourth scrumbase combination in four seasons.

Reynolds and Maloney are the 18th NSW halves combination since the start of 2006, when Queensland began their dominance of the interstate series.

The Maroons have used just five combinations in that time, with Johnathan Thurston and Darren Lockyer then Cooper Cronk dominating the roles.

Reynolds said he grew up idolising Blues halves legends Brad Fittler and Andrew Johns and was delighted to join them as a NSW representative.

"I have always wanted this as a kid, I used to idolise Freddy and Joey.

"Every kid in NSW wants to pull on the sky blue and now I have that chance.

"I just can't wait.
