In pictures: The devastation from Australia's bushfires is visible from space

As widespread bushfires continue to threaten parts of New South Wales and Queensland, photos emerging from the fire front show the devastation they've caused.

Homes have been destroyed and lives have been lost as bushfires continue to burn through New South Wales and Queensland.

The devastation is obvious from the photos emerging from the fire grounds.

On the usually picturesque coast of Tuncurry, NSW smoke is choking the horizon.

Just north in the Hilville and Rainbow Flat areas, near Taree, an emergency warning - the highest level of bushfire alert - was issued by the RFS.

Homes were destroyed and the fire tore through the bushland along parts of the Pacific Highway, leaving trucks burnt out.

Residents were also evacuated from Noosa, on the Queensland's Sunshine Coast as the bushfires approached.

 The fires loomed over the town of Harrington, just 335 kilometres north of Sydney.

 In Port Macquarie, the sky was also tinged with a smokey haze. 

A fire at Woodford in the Blue Mountains eased after firefighters worked through the night to battle the blaze.

The fire burned close to homes and residents were evacuated overnight.
