India fight back in 4th Sth African Test

India have fought back to be 7-231 at stumps on day one of the fourth and final Test against South Africa in New Delhi.

India were 7-231 at stumps on Thursday's opening day of the fourth and final Test against South Africa at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi.

Ajinkya Rahane was unbeaten on 89 with Ravichandran Ashwin not out six when umpires called an end to play, with six overs remaining, due to bad light.

India fought back, through Rahane, Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja (24), after being 3-66 early and then 6-139.

Openers Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan fell for 12 and 33 respectively - both to offspinner Dane Piedt.

He was the most successful bowler for the visitors, picking up 4-101.

Piedt also picked up the prized wicket of captain Virat Kohli for 44, while Rohit Sharma played a poor shot to be out for one.

Wriddhiman Saha was bowled by Kyle Abbott (3-23) for one, and the South African quick also bowled Cheteshwar Pujara for 14.

India have already won the series, after taking an unassailable lead with decisive victories in the first and third Tests in Mohali and Nagpur. The second Test in Bangalore was washed out after the first day's play.
