The first media campaign targeted solely at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders has been launched in Canberra.

The campaign is designed to tackle the widespread issue of smoking among Australia's indigenous population, half of indigenous Australians smoke compared with the nationwide smoking average of 17 per cent.

The Federal Government says tackling smoking will help fix the devastating issue of life expectancy in the indigenous community.
