More than half of Indigenous Australians who are eligible to vote are not registered on the electoral roll, compared with just one in ten people across the country.
With just three months to go until the federal election, the Gillard government today launched a $14 million program to encourage more people to register online.
The Australian Electoral Commission says it will be backed by a range of awareness campaigns at festivals and community events across the country.
