A Josh Richardson layup with 5.1 seconds to play has capped a late Miami Heat rally in their 103-102 NBA win over the Utah Jazz.

Australian forward Joe Ingles had nine points and eight rebounds for the Jazz but it was the hosts that made the buckets when needed down the stretch to claw their way back from an eight-point deficit in the final quarter.

Utah rookie Donovan Mitchell missed a buzzer beater for the win but top scored in the game with 27 points.

Tyler Johnson and Goran Dragic each scored 16 points for Miami, who have won four straight -- all by single digits -- and improved to 22-17 to be fifth in the eastern conference.

Utah were still up by five in the final two minutes before Miami closed with an 8-2 run.

Dragan Bender scored 17 of his career-high 20 points in the second half while rookie Josh Jackson had 17 points and 10 rebounds in his first career double-double as the Phoenix reserves helped the Suns beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-100.

Russell Westbrook had his 14th triple-double of the season and second in a row with 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds but the Thunder never led after the first quarter.

New York Knicks snapped a three-game losing streak with a 100-96 win over the Dallas Mavericks, with Kristaps Porzingis scoring 29 points and Jarrett Jack making the tiebreaking basket with 31.2 seconds to play.

Meanwhile CJ McCollum saw a floating shot make its way into the basket with 5.9 seconds left on the clock as his Portland Trail Blazers edged the San Antonio Spurs, 111-110.

McCollum, who had 25 points in the night, drove to the basket in the dying seconds, getting a jumper away which eventually fell after bobbling around the rim.

The contest was tight throughout - San Antonio went into the half 53-48 up but the teams were tied at the end of the third 80-80. LaMarcus Aldridge top scored for the Spurs with 30, as the Trail Blazers won their second in a row.

Australian Patty Mills had seven points in his 28 minutes.

In the day's other game the LA Lakers saw off the Atlanta Hawks 132-113, with Brandon Ingram scoring 20 points.
