Veteran wing defence Renae Ingles is the new acting vice-captain of the world champion Australian Diamonds netball team for next month's Constellation Cup series against arch rivals New Zealand.
Thunderbirds midcourter Ingles, 29, is filling the deputy role after the retirement of fellow midcourter Kim Green following last month's World Cup triumph in Sydney.
World Cup and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Ingles was appointed last year as Adelaide captain.
Ingles has made 65 Test appearances, won two Australian International Player of the Year awards (2009, 2013) and the Liz Ellis Diamond (2013).
"Renae brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Diamonds' vice-captaincy and we believe her combination with captain Laura Geitz will provide a great example for the Constellation Cup," Australian coach Lisa Alexander said.
"She (Ingles) is highly respected by her peers, coaching and support staff at a domestic and international level; she leads by example on and off the court with her attitude, commitment and behaviour."
The Thunderbirds' captain was formerly known as Renae Hallinan before recently marrying Boomers and NBA basketballer Joe Ingles.
"Representing the green and gold is a privilege any time, but to get the opportunity to do so in a leadership capacity is extremely exciting and a challenge that I look forward to against the Silver Ferns," Ingles said.
"I am really looking forward to working with, and learning from, captain Laura (Geitz). She is an incredible leader."
The Diamonds will play the Silver Ferns in Christchurch on October 20 and Auckland two days later before facing them at home in Melbourne on October 25 and Perth on October 30.
Trans-Tasman team NSW Swifts on Wednesday announced they had sold out all of their 2016 match day memberships, more than six months before the start of the new season.
The Swifts' home base is the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre, which only has a capacity of just under 4000 and will be used during the coming NBL season by the Sydney Kings when their current venue is demolished.
The Swifts, Kings and Tennis NSW are in discussions, with one proposal being trying to get funding for a retractable roof over the main court at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis Centre, which would allow all three sports to be played under cover, as well as stage entertainment events.
