South Sydney captain Greg Inglis has given himself until the end of this NRL season to nut out a contract extension with the club.
The 29-year-old, who still has two years remaining on his current deal, has long been rumoured to want to finish his career in Brisbane, with whom he almost signed with in 2010.
But Inglis used the unveiling of his wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Sydney on Tuesday to also reveal his long-term future, promising the Rabbitohs discussions wouldn't lag into 2017.
"I'll probably come to my decision at the end of this year, instead of dragging on for another year," he said.
"I've still got two years left (and) I don't want to be making the club uneasy of where I'm going to be at the following third year."

However Inglis did leave the door ajar for the Broncos, or any other potential suitors, to come knocking at his door over the next seven months.
"I'd like to put that all to rest, but we've just got to wait and see, you'll never know what this year's going to bring," he said.
One thing the State of Origin star did guarantee was that his future lied in the 13-man code, ruling him out of any experimental move to NFL or rugby union.
"Moving forward, rugby league and Souths is the only thing on my mind at the moment," he said.
"I've got two years and I want to honour that two years. In terms of negotiation, we'll have to wait and see beyond that."
Inglis also urged teammate Luke Keary to re-sign with the club, despite the five-eighth's recent run-in with owner Russell Crowe.
After taking the punt on a one-year deal early in 2015, the 23-year-old Keary is on the cusp of cashing in and securing a multi-year payday as one of the hottest players on the market.
Inglis was diplomatic when asked about the club tying down one of their key playmakers.
"Obviously they've got to work through that. Luke's got to be happy with what's being put to him, "he said.
"I'd love to have Luke there. I'd love to have all our boys there, but unfortunately in our line of business, it is a business at the end of the day."
With Keary suspended for round one, Inglis also revealed Rabbitohs fans will get their first glimpse at Cody Walker in the halves this weekend at the NRL Nines.
"With round one being just around the corner, you'll get a glimpse of him over in the Auckland Nines," he said.
