Adelaide hold no long-term fears for captain Taylor Walker despite another foot injury which will sideline him for the AFL pre-season.

Walker has strained the plantar fascia ligament in a foot in another interruption to his pre-season.

The Crows skipper had finger and ankle surgery after last year's grand final loss to Richmond in a season when he also battled toe and foot problems.

Crows medicos expect Walker to make a full recovery in six weeks from his latest setback.

"He had a similar injury in the pre-season last year and managed to get back and when he came back he played some good footy, so we're confident in what he can do," teammate Rory Atkins told reporters on Thursday.

"As it showed last season, if he did come back and didn't get going that early, we still played good footy with him in the team."

Adelaide meet Essendon in their premiership season opener on March 23.

"He's a professional and he'll do everything he can ... and I wouldn't be counting him out," Atkins said.

Adelaide's high performance manager Matt Hass said Walker would spend the next fortnight wearing a protective boot on his injured foot.

Walker reported soreness in the foot last week.

"Fortunately the injury doesn't require surgery and he will make a full recovery after a period of rest," Hass said in a statement.
