Hopman Cup winner Richard Gasquet has withdrawn from the Kooyong Classic with an abdominal injury in the hope of being fit for next week's Australian Open.

World No.18 Gasquet was due to face fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon on Tuesday afternoon, however organisers have shuffled the schedule with Ivo Karlovic taking his place.

Poland's Jerzy Janowicz, the world No.278, has been called in to the four-day exhbition tournament to take on veteran German Tommy Haas in the last match of the day.

Gasquet, 30, flew to Melbourne from Perth after he and teammate Kristina Mladenovic lifted the Hopman Cup trophy at the weekend.
