An injured great white shark measuring 1.8 metres long has washed up on Sydney's popular Manly Beach.
Footage of the moment shows the baby shark thrashing in shallow waters after swimmers were evacuated from the ocean when the shark alarm rang over the beach about midday on Monday.
The shark was rescued by workers from Manly Sea Life Sanctuary before it was transferred to the Fairy Bower Pool in a sling to be monitored where it was captured banging in the walls of its temporary home by 7 News.
Hundreds of people gathered around the pool to catch a glimpse of the protected animal before it was carried away to the sanctuary.

The shark is expected to make a full recovery.
One of the people who spotted the predator on the beach was Dan Korocz was just about to take his two sons for a dip.
"When you see a real-life shark, it's scary," he told 7 News.
"We were down on the beach for lunch with my family.
"I've got a four-year-old and a two-year-old and we went down to the water's edge and then it came in."
Mr Korocz posted a video of the shark on the shore trying to make its way out of the water on his Instagram page.
Manly Sea Life Sanctuary life sciences manager Rob Townsend told 9 News beach goers had initially tried to push the shark back into the ocean but it kept heading swimming back to shore.
"It’s still in a very weak state and has suffered some superficial injuries," Mr Townsend said.
Mr Townsend said they were unable to determine what had injured the shark and it was unusual to see a shark of its kind so battered.
