The federal government is set to spend $17.5 million on an advertising campaign to promote Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull's innovation agenda.

Mitchell and Partners Australia has been given the nod for two tenders to roll out the campaign across a wide range of media.

A spokesman for Innovation Minister Christopher Pyne said the campaign would "raise awareness of the agenda and the tangible benefits it brings target audiences, which include small and medium sized enterprises, start-ups, entrepreneurs, students, and the research community".
